When it comes to highway fuel efficiency, Volkswagen technology trumps Toyota, according to a Popular Mechanics test.  After a rigorous face-off, the 2009 Jetta TDI Clean Diesel earned a better highway MPG rating than the 2008 Prius.  Testers also gave Jetta the edge in comfort and tire-chirping thrills. Good clean diesel fun. It's what the people want.
